What Peek Pro Actually Costs

If you've looked into Peek Pro, you've probably seen a booking fee percentage quoted somewhere — from a sales conversation, from another operator, from a review site. Depending on how your business runs, there are a couple of other fees worth knowing about. And unlike some platforms in this category, the numbers aren't the same for everyone.
This post breaks down each fee category associated with Peek Pro, explains why the rates move around from one operator to the next, and walks through how to figure out what you're actually paying today.
First, Why the Numbers Vary
Peek Pro doesn't work off a single standard rate. Terms are set per account, which means two operators running similar businesses on the same software can be paying different effective rates.
It's by no means a hidden fee — you'll be presented a rate by their sales team. But it does mean you can't look it up ahead of time, and it means comparing notes with another operator won't tell you much about your own situation. Someone telling you what they pay is a data point about their account, not yours.
So the numbers below are ranges. Where each fee tends to land, and whether it shows up on every account or only some. The last section covers how to pin down your own number, which is the one that actually matters.
The Online Booking Fee
This is the fee on bookings that come through your website checkout. It generally lands somewhere between 3% and 6%, with most operators sitting at the top of that range. Peek passes this fee on to your customer at checkout, which means they're the ones paying it — not you.
How that affects your business depends on your customer base and your price points. A 6% checkout fee on a $45 walking tour lands differently than on a $600 private charter. Either way it's your guest seeing the total right before they commit, so it's worth thinking through how that fee shows up at the moment they're about to book.
The Back-Office Booking Fee
This one applies to bookings you took yourself — phone calls, walk-ups, group emails, concierge referrals. Bookings the software didn't bring you. Unlike the online fee, this one is paid by the operator, not the customer.
It appears on some accounts and not others. A lot of operators handle a significant portion of their bookings offline, especially for large group reservations or private experiences. If you're in that category, this is worth checking on your own agreement specifically — it can apply to a large share of your booking volume.
For a deeper look at how fees on offline bookings work across the industry, our post on booking software fees breaks it all down.
The OTA API Fee
If you're connected to OTAs like Viator or GetYourGuide through Peek, there's an additional fee of around 2% on those bookings, on top of whatever the OTA takes in commission. This one also sits with the operator, and like the back-office fee, it doesn't appear on every account.
OTA commissions are typically 20%+. Add a 2% platform fee on top of that, and a $100 booking through an OTA channel can cost $22 or more in combined fees before you factor in anything else. If OTA distribution is a meaningful part of your business, this is one of the more common reasons operators end up looking at Peek Pro alternatives.
Worth noting what this post doesn't cover: Peek also runs a consumer marketplace with its own commission structure. That's a distribution channel you opt into rather than a fee on your booking software, so it sits outside this breakdown.
The Full Picture
Here's a summary of Peek Pro's fee structure across each category:
| Fee Type | Amount | Who Pays |
|---|---|---|
| Online booking fee | 3–6% (most at 6%) | Customer |
| Back-office booking fee | Varies by agreement, not on every account | Operator |
| OTA API fee | ~2% where it applies | Operator |
The specifics for your operation will be in your agreement. If you're not sure which of these are on your account, that's the document to go find.
How to Work Out What You're Actually Paying
Your headline percentage isn't your real rate. Your real rate is every fee charged on your bookings over a season divided by your gross booking volume in that season — and for a lot of operators, the gap between those two numbers is the whole story.
Pull a full season rather than a month. Seasonality moves your booking mix around, and the share coming in online versus over the phone versus through an OTA isn't the same in July as it is in October. A single month can flatter or exaggerate the picture. Take total fees charged across that window, divide by gross booking volume, and you have your effective rate.
Once you have that number, you have something you can actually compare against. Not a percentage someone quoted you, but what your bookings actually carried in fees last season — the portion you covered and the portion your guests did. From there, comparing platforms side by side helps you see how those fees stack up against the features and support each one offers.
How We Do It
For what it's worth, here's our side of it. BookingTerminal charges 5% on online bookings and nothing on the ones you take yourself — no back-office fee, no OTA API fee, no subscription, no setup cost. It's quoted right on our pricing page, so you can work out what you'd pay before you ever talk to us.
That's not automatically the right answer for everyone. If you landed at the lower end of Peek's range and don't have a back-office fee on your account, you may well be paying less than you would with us — which is exactly why it's worth running your own numbers rather than taking anyone's word for it. And pricing isn't the whole story anyway. The software you're in every day, and whether the person on the other end already knows your setup, matter just as much as the percentage. But if you've run your numbers and you're not sure they're buying you much, it's worth seeing what else is out there.
